Spotlight: T.R. Knight Leaves Grey’s Anatomy
-
Earlier this month, we saw the fifth season finale for Grey’s Anatomy, and we were left on a bit of cliffhanger as it looked like both Izzie Stevens and George O’Malley died. George was hit by a bus while trying to prevent a young woman suffering the same fate. We went nearly two hours thinking the bus guy was some anonymous John Doe until George was finally able to clue Meredith in that it was him.
Just as that happened, Izzie stopped breathing in Alex’s arms. The team at Seattle Grace had to rush to save both of them, and we once again saw Izzie in her prom dress on the elevator, but this time it wasn’t Denny that was waiting for her. This time it was George, and that is where the season ended. This started speculation. Some said George would be back, but with a new face and another actor taking over the role.
However, the main writer over at Grey’s Anatomy has come out and said that George is dead. No new actor will play him. This just ruins the big cliffhanger. However, many can still spend the summer months wondering if Izzie also died, or if it was just George by himself. Some are already upset by T.R. Knight leaving the show and the fact George is now gone. Some have even promised to stop watching the series. Grey’s Anatomy will return in the fall. What do you think of T.R. Knight’s departure from Grey’s Anatomy?

American Idol Controversy
-
Even though season eight of American Idol, and the winner is in the books, we still have a bit of drama surrounding the popular competition series. This week, chaos has surrounded both of the two final contestants. First, we had a voting controversy surrounding the final results, as it looked like voters were given an incentive to send in their votes to Kris Allen during voting parties that occurred the week before the final competition.
This happened with AT&T customers in Arkansas, and once this came out, people started to wonder if maybe this little incentive might have hurt the competition, and if Adam Lambert would have ended up winning. However, both contestants have played down this controversy since news broke out about this passed Wednesday. The two performed on the Today Show stage on Thursday, and all appeared well.
As for Adam Lambert, his had chaos of a more personal nature, as it has come out that he might reveal he is gay in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine. He has been denying this up to this point, but one of the American Idol judges has even come out to say that Lambert is openly gay. This is before the interview comes out.
No matter if he is gay or straight, he did well in this year’s competition, but he didn’t do enough to win it all. Number two is still something though. What do you think? Did the right man win American Idol this season? Are you already waiting for season nine?

Applegate Wants Samantha Who Saved
-
We’ve seen a lot of shows saved from the axe last week, and some more picked up for the first time to air in the fall and spring. However, some have been wondering about the fate of some of their favorite series. No one understands why some shows are canceled and others are saved.
Over on Fox, we have one such case this season. Dollhouse was picked up for a second season, even though the show that lead into it Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. This one had me scratching my head some because with Terminator, there was a movie set for release that could get even more attention paid to the series. However, the series was canceled.
Over on ABC, we had another shocking cancellation with Samantha Who. There were changes to come with the series, as the producers tried making plans for the next season. They wanted to add another camera into the mix, which would hopefully cut costs on the production somehow.
However, ABC didn’t give them that chance. They canceled the series, and Christina Applegate has already started the fight to get her series put back on the air. She has started a petition and gone to Twitter to try to get the show saved. Sometimes these efforts work.
We saw Jericho brought back from cancellation over on CBS. Will Samantha have much of the same luck? Only time will tell. What do you think? Do you want Samantha Who back?

Three Rivers Brings Back O’Loughlin
-
Ever since Moonlight was yanked off the air, fans of the series have been waiting for the return of Alex O’Loughlin to the network. He was kept by CBS with a year contract while they tried to find a new series for him. After an appearance in one of the final episodes this season of Criminal Minds, and an upfronts appearance has finally found him a new home on CBS. The new home is in the form of a new series called Three Rivers.
The series will follow the lives of an organ transplant team as they come into contact with both life and death on a daily basis as they take gift of life from one and give it to someone else. This series has O’Loughlin as one of the members of the team, and it brings another familiar to the small screen back as well. This in the form of Kate Moennig. Many might recognize her as Shane from the recently ended The L Word. That series aired its final episode in March. Moennig appears here as another member of the transplant team.
Three Rivers appears to be one of the most highly anticipated series of the new season. Fans of Alex O’Loughlin, myself included, were waiting for the actor to return after Moonlight was canceled so quickly. This series looks to have some potential from the little I’ve seen already, but we will have to wait and see what happens when the series premieres. It is in the time slot that has it going up against Desperate Housewives, so it will have some decent competition right there. What do you think? Are you ready for Three Rivers?

V Is Coming
-
Back in the early 1980s, there was a series that seemed to capture people. First it captured them as a mini-series, and then a television series that didn’t last too long, but it was still popular. The concept was easy enough. Aliens from outerspace come to Earth with less than honorable intentions. They don’t let the world know that though. They come proming peace and assistance to all instead. However, some find out their true plans, and they try to expose them for what they really are.
Easy enough right? It was a simple series and story back then, and I was concerned when I heard the series was being revamped and brought back to ABC in an all new form. There are just some things that are classic when it comes to television, and V for me was one of those things. I remember watching the mini-series, and the television series that followed. I was hooked from the very beginning.
However, I had true mixed feelings when it came to the new series. However, those feelings are now gone. With upfronts last week in New York City, the networks showed us just what had they have planned for next season. V is coming in ABC’s midseason, and after watching the promo for the series, I am truly excited to see what they plan to do with this series. Elizabeth Mitchell jumps from Lost, and is a main character in this one, playing what appears to be an FBI agent with a teenage son that is sucked into the Visitor way of life.
You can check out the trailer for yourself here. What do you think? Are you ready for the return of V to your television?
