4OD get’s Foxy
-

Following their recent content boost, C4 have stepped up again, this time to announce that they’ll be adding 20th Century Fox movies to their (windows-only) 4OD service.
The new deal will see 40 movies from Fox hitting the service this year, at a price of £2.99 per view. Yes, that’s per view, like renting a DVD from blockbusters.
I honestly expected the price to be somewhat lower, £2.99 is pretty close to the price of a cinema ticket. The titles that will be available at first will include Independence Day, Alien vs Predator and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.
I really don’t think this is a great deal. The “flag-ship” titles are several years old and if I’m paying £2.99 (per view!) I want to own that film and be able to watch it again & again, when I feel like it. It’s also worth noting that you can get Independence Day for £4.99 on DVD from Play (I’m sure if you looked around you’d find it even cheaper!), and you can watch that as many times as you like…

Cinema tickets must be cheap near you! In Epsom they’re around £8 for an adult, and down in Portsmouth you can get in for £7.
