    • 151419__90210_l.jpgAccording to the CW, a spin-off of the popular 1990s television series, Beverly Hills 90210, is in the works for the network. Rob Thomas, the man behind Veronica Mars, is working on the project that is said to be on the fast track for the network. Whether or not a pilot will be made for the series idea will be known by the end of the month. No word yet on any of the shows stars will return for the new series. Most noticeable in recent years of the cast are actress Jennie Garth and actor Ian Ziering, who both appeared on Dancing With The Stars in recent seasons. Brian Austin Green appeared in Fox hit, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Beverly Hills 90210 aired on Fox between 1990 and 2000, and it followed a group of friends from their teen years through adulthood. Many faces came and went during the ten year period, but a core cast remained throughout. I remember being a fan of the series, and I watched the show each and every week. Episodes of the show can still be seen from time to time in syndication, and there are so many wonderful memories I have from watching the show. The lives of Kelly, Brandon, Dylan and their friends was something I enjoyed following. I would love to see some of the original cast members return to make appearances.

This isn’t the first spin-off from the series. Melrose Place spun off from 90210 in the early nineties following the life of one man and the people that lived in his building. The character of Jake appeared on a few episodes of 90210 as a love interest of Kelly Taylor. From then on, the creators took him and his friends on a wild ride that lasted seven seasons. It’ll be interesting to see if this goes forward, and to also see if it goes well. It’s been eight years since we last saw this cast. With no real idea of what the plan is, it will be interesting to see what Thomas cooks up.
