    • A battle for Scrubs seems to be in place between two of the four broadcast networks. Scrubs currently airs on NBC, and that network has been iffy on the series for a couple of seasons now. This season, dealt a blow from the writer’s strike, had its season cut from eighteen episodes down to twelve. NBC is said to be planning to show the remaining episodes in April, but there is also rumors that they might send these remaining episodes straight to DVD. NBC has been going back and forth over the fate of the series since Fox did the same with Arrested Development a couple of years ago.

This whole entire time, ABC has expressed interest in taking the series from NBC, and they have renewed their efforts in recent weeks. This is the time of year where deals such as this are being made. Series are either being canceled or picked up for new seasons to air in the fall. ABC wants Scrubs for its own line-up, giving it an eighteen episode season next season. ABC does have a hold on the series. They produce it for NBC, and they have since 2001. Bringing it to ABC would only mean bringing the series home in a way, but NBC won’t let the series go without a fight.

As for other ABC pick ups, they have announced series renewals for a lot of the network’s reality programming. Dancing With The Stars, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and Supernanny are among the shows returning with new programming in the fall. Wife Swap and America’s Funniest Home Videos also received green lights for new seasons. This new season will be the nineteenth for America’s Funniest Home Videos, making it the longest running program in ABC’s history. We will just have to wait and see what ABC and NBC do with Scrubs.
