American Idol Auditioner Chris Bernheisel Takes Advantage of his 15 Minutes of Fame
-
Ok, “truth be told,” it was actually eight minutes and 13 seconds of fame… but since 25-year-old Chris Bernheisel from Omaha auditioned for American Idol, this young man may have discovered the fame he was searching for! When the bubbly Chris Bernheisel entered the room to audition for American Idol, he came bearing gifts for American Idol judges Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. Although Paula was absent due to a — quote, unquote — plane delay, Simon told Chris he’d make sure Paula received her gift. In addition to his gifts, he had pictures of himself with the former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, his favorite Idol.
Soon after Chris distributed the gifts and shared his pictures with Randy and Simon, the audition began as a confident Chris Bernheisel belted out “Since U Been Gone,” which was horrible from the beginning. His dancing and handstand act didn’t seem to impress the judges either. Even though Simon and Randy turned Chris down, it didn’t appear to bother him, because he asked Simon and Randy if he could audition for the Red Carpet instead. Surprisingly, Simon allowed it, and then he advised Chris to tell Fox42 that they want him to report at the finals. Chris asked if they were serious, and both Randy and Simon confirmed. Chris was so happy to hear they wanted him to report from the finals that he didn’t care about the gold ticket to Hollywood.
To this day, I still wonder if Chris Bernheisel knew he couldn’t sing, and went there with the intentions to get a jump start on his career as a reporter. You know, I just might have been right, because recent news reported that Chris had sent his 71st video package to Ellen Degeneres. Furthermore, 24 hours after Chris Bernheisel’s audition, he appeared on radio stations, Access Hollywood called to setup an interview with him, TV Guide called him to do a gig for them and he filmed Idol Wrap with Justin Guarini and Kimberly Caldwell, both former contestants on American Idol.
All I have to say is, “You go, Chris!” Chris Bernheisel is living proof that dreams can come true, but most have to work harder to achieve their dreams. Take me, for example, God has given me the talent to write and I’ve been doing it since I was eight. Writing is my passion. I love helping, inspiring and entertaining others through my words, but I’m still working on my dream to become a well-known author and writer. Hmm… maybe I should audition for American Idol and see if it works for me. I’m kidding, of course. I wouldn’t dare embarrass myself in front of millions of viewers. I don’t need anyone to tell me I can’t sing, because I know it. Instead, I’ll keep dreaming and praying for my fame. After all, prayer is more powerful than 15 minutes of fame on TV.

Chris already got some fame in the video he sent to a radio station a couple years ago…so add at least a couple more minutes. It’s really creepy!
