    • NBC hit series, ER, is set to return for its final season this fall, and there have been rumors flying about the last season ever since it was announced that this would be it. ER wanted Clooney back as Doug Ross, but George shut down those rumors early on, but people have been known to change their minds. Noah Wyle is set to return as John Carter, who has been a fixture on the series on and off from the very beginning. We see him grow from an intern to a doctor, and a damn good one at that. A long the way, Carter has had a few bumps but he has kept going on as best as he could.

Many have come and gone over the years. Some have just faded off into the proverbial sunset, while others have died. We’ve seen deaths by accident, murder and some dying of natural causes. One of the hardest character deaths in the history had to be that of Dr. Mark Greene. He died of a brain tumor a few seasons back. Played by Anthony Edwards, he was a huge part of what made the series what it became as a staple of the the must see Thursday night NBC line-up.

Word has it that Edwards has agreed to return to the series in its final season. This might be in the form of a flashback. When the end was first announced, some said it would be nice to see a scene with Ross and Greene to end the series. I spoke of that before, and I would love to see Clooney change his mind and make it happen! Come on, George! What do you say? You can do it.

    • Letterman Sticks Up For Leno

    • Fans all know the rivalry between David Letterman and Jay Leno. Movies were made about the late night battle that ended up with Jay taking over for Johnny Carson and Dave heading over to CBS over a decade ago. Now Jay is riding off into the sunset and he is preparing to end his late night run in May 2009. Conan O’Brien is already set to take over Jay’s spot with Jimmy Fallon coming in to take over for Conan.

In a shocker, Dave has actually spoke out about the changes to come in late night television, and he is standing up for Jay Leno.  He doesn’t understand why Jay Leno is getting the boot from his late night spot after how much he has done for NBC over the years. This is something not many expected to see, but it is nice to see Dave moving beyond their past issues and speaking out.

As for his own future on CBS, he would like to continue on with his contract and even beyond it. His contract is up in 2010. If at that time, CBS wants to make a change he would be fine with it, but he wants to continue. Not for too much longer, but long enough. He wants to leave his spot on his own terms and not be forced out, as he thinks is happening to Jay.

As a fan of late night television, I was shocked to see Jay’s departure come up as well, but NBC seems to have a plan in place for it. We will see what happens when the changes are made in the summer of 2009.

    • 90210 Returns

A post about by Regina Avalos on September 2nd, '08

    • Well, this is the day fans of 90210 has been waiting for.  The new 90210 is set to premiere on CW tonight, and news has been swirling this show for months. Ever since the series was announced as a probable series for the new network, gossip has been surrounding it. Would any of the original cast return? Would it be the series to help pick the CW off the ground just like Beverly Hills 90210 did for Fox when it first hit the network?

We know some of the stars decided to return. Most of the series surrounded Kelly Taylor, who wasn’t a main player when the show began in 1990. The acting ability of Jennie Garth and the departure of Shannen Doherty in 1994 made Kelly the top female on the series. Most of the series surrounded her life and the many dramas that went on in it. Plus, the love triangle between Kelly, Brandon and Dylan went on to the very end.

Kelly is back on the series. Now playing the guidance counselor at the high school. Shannen and possibly even Donna are returning, but Tori Spelling backed out of the series just a few weeks ago. She can still return, but right now she is focusing on her new family. Right now, CW is putting all its hopes on the series, which premieres tonight at 8/7c with a two hour premiere. Will you be watching? Are you excited for the return of 90210?

    • Aniston Heads Back To NBC

    • Jennifer Aniston became a household name on NBC’s hit series, Friends. That series ended a few years ago, and Jennifer went further into movies. Rumors of a Friends reunion were squashed earlier this summer, but Jennifer Aniston seems to be heading back to the network that was once her home for another series. She will appear on 30 Rock this season. She isn’t the first Friend to appear on 30 Rock.

Last season, David Schwimmer appeared on the series. There is no real word on just what the actress will be doing on the series, or when she will appear, but the series returns for its third season in October. In other NBC news, the network has decided to pick up one of its other television series for a complete second season as they picked up the back nine of Chuck.  NBC is also busy casting for new series as it builds the cast of LAPD.

Back in the day, the NBC network was the network to watch with some of the best series on air. However, these days NBC needs some work, and it appears ABC has become the network to watch. This may change, but as long as ABC has shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Lost topping things for them ABC will win. Lost will end soon enough, and there is no telling just how long Grey’s Anatomy will last with seasons like last years.

    • Spotlight: Raising The Bar

    • TNT is trying to raise the bar this week with a new series sit to premiere on the network on Monday night. Raising The Bar comes to us from the man behind such hits as Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue, Steven Bochco. This time he is hitting the Bronx as he follows the life of a public defender. The series is based on a book Indefensible by public defender David Feigre. The series is set for a ten episode run once it premieres this week.

The main star in this series is actor Mark Paul Gosselaar, who some might remember from his roles on Saved By The Bell and most recently in NYPD Blue and Commander in Chief. This actor has come a long way from his days as prankster Zach Morris on the Saturday morning circuit. A lot of hard work looks to have been put into this series, and those that tune in on Monday night will see if that hard work paid off.

When it comes to good quality television, Bochco has always been on the top of his game. I have been a fan of a few series made by this man over the years, and this one should be interesting to at least tune in and watch the start. I am one of those that either tunes in and loves a show or hates it in the first episode. Others might be the same way. Raising The Bar premieres Monday night. We will see if Bochco strikes gold or flops.
