    • The 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out last night in Los Angeles, and it was cable television that dominated for most of the evening. HBO, FX and Comedy Central all took home awards for their programming. The HBO miniseries John Adams took home five awards while Damages took home two. The award for outstanding drama went to AMC’s Mad Men.

The networks weren’t left out of the fun though. NBC’s 30 Rock won four awards last night. Tina Fey took two home for herself, and the series once again won for outstanding comedy. Some other news came out about NBC during the night. It looks like the planned Office spin-off is going to be put off for a year. They want to put the focus on the original The Office before jumping ahead with the spin-off.

The event, which was held at the Nokia Theater, is already receiving some criticism. Some are calling the event sexist. The highlight of the night was not the hosting, but a medley performed by Josh Groban. He sang portions of some of the best television theme songs over the last forty years including Love Boat, The Jeffersons and opening with the Friends theme song. Now that the Emmy awards are over, we can now put our full attention on the television season ahead. For a full list of last night’s winners, go here.
