Spotlight: Army Wives Returns
-
Army Wives is set to return for its third season this Sunday night, and I just learned of the fact today. Lifetime really isn’t putting all that much hype into this season of the series. The DVD set for season two was released earlier this week, so fans could catch up on what they missed or refresh their memories. I picked up Army Wives after I was given the opportunity to review the first season on DVD last year.
Watching the series from the beginning, I was immediately hooked. The series follows a group of wives and one army husband as they deal with being the ones always left behind on base while their loved ones go off to war. We see not all is well and happy for either side. The lives of these army wives are hard, but they stay strong. We’ve seen every thing from breast cancer, infidelity, death and drug abuse handled on the series, and handled well.
Lifetime has faith in the series because it has already renewed this series through season four. When I began to watch it, I was reminded very much of The Unit over on CBS. However, that series divided the focus between the wives at home, and the men’s missions. However, Army Wives’ entire focus is on the wives at home. We see some scenes on the battle field, but those scenes are brief and usually consist of a phone call home to the one left behind.
The Unit was canceled this year by CBS. Army Wives comes to us from the same people behind Grey’s Anatomy. Are you ready for an all new season of Army Wives? Tune in Sunday Night.

Army Wives Set For Two
-
Fans of the Lifetime series, Army Wives, had some good news this week. Season three of the series is set for a June premiere, but we can already breathe easy. This series has already been picked up for season four before season three even hits. Hollywood Reporter released this news on Tuesday, a full four months before the third season premiere.
Army Wives is the best performing original drama Lifetime has had, and those numbers are what is giving the series more life. The series follows a group of military wives and one husband as they deal with being the ones left behind when their significant others go to war.
We’ve seen a lot happen to the wives in the first two seasons. We’ve seen death, drugs, affairs and a number of other problems pop up. Army Wives has to be one of my favorite series on television. It is a series that comes to us from the same people behind Grey’s Anatomy, and that says something alone.
The series has a creative cast of characters that all seem to connect to each other in some way. With solid cliffhangers to end the first two seasons, strong writing and story lines that keep you hooked each and every week, Army Wives is good television, and I am glad to see that Lifetime has recognized that. Another two years of this series is more than welcomed. What do you think? Are you into the lives of Army Wives?

Spotlight: Army Wives
-
Army Wives first became a program I watched when I received the first season DVD set to review. I became hooked, and when the series returned for a second season this summer I immediately tuned in. It is now one of my favorite television shows. It follows the lives of military men and women and their loved ones on a fictional military base. The focus is on more those left behind than the ones that go off to war.
The second season is now coming to a close on Sunday night, and this season was better than the first. It was also longer than the first season. The series was given more after the popularity of season one. With a longer season, more has happened. The characters had to deal with the loss of one to begin with, and then they entire set of families had their own issues. An affair, new relationships, drug abuse, an attempted rape and a separate stalker situation all were dealt with this year. There was also a new baby added.
The season finale is planning to add even more drama and trouble for the characters. This one really gets me. However, there are some comparisons that can be made to another show that follows military families, The Unit. This one has been around a few years too. What do you think? Do you see similarities between The Unit and Army Wives? Or are they each their own shows? I like both. I watch both. To me the similarities are there, but each show stands on its own.

Army Wives Returns For Season Two
-
Army Wives, the series on Lifetime from the people behind Grey’s Anatomy, premiered on June 8 with an all new season that already promises to be even better than the first. Last season ended with a cliffhanger as a jealous husband walked into the local hangout with a bomb attached to his body after his wife cheated on him and left him for another man. As the series ended its season, we saw the man’s finger pressed on the trigger just before a flash of light.Fans of the series were left to wonder who survived until the premiere of the second season, and yes one of their own was lost in the explosion at the Hump Bar. Now they are all dealing with the loss of one of the teenage daughters of Claudia Joy, perhaps the strongest member of the little group formed by their common bonds. It isn’t easy to lose a child, and the writer’s of this series are showing just hard it can be for parents to lose a child, especially as suddenly and tragically as this one.
The first season stayed away from the front lines for the most part, but this season has taken us to Iraq, where two of the army men are stationed. Army Wives’ focus is truly on those women and men left behind at wartime though. This is different than another military program that focuses on the wives as well, The Unit. For that series, the focus isn’t completely on the wives at home, but on the men out in the field as well with watchers of the series going with the men wherever they go. The Unit has been picked for another season by CBS.
Army Wives stays close to home, showing their group dealing with the heartbreak and worry they go through daily with their loved ones so far from home. This isn’t a series I watched before, but after having a chance to review the first season recently released on DVD, I am now proud to say I am hooked on this show and it will keep me interested in the summer months ahead.
