We all know that Kyle XY aired its final episode this week on ABC Family. The fact that this series was canceled still shocks the hell out of me. To me, Kyle XY was one of the most creative series on television. I was hooked in from the very beginning of episode one by the story line, the characters and the people that made them come to life. However, ratings do tend to be a problem, but ABC really tried to back this one. Episodes were even re-aired on ABC during the first two seasons. That wasn’t done with season three because it was announced early on that the series was going to end.

That end did come, and I did tune in, hoping to find some kind of closure to the series. Was that received? Not at all. The episode was a good episode until the final thirty seconds, and then I realized it was over. I thought there was some commercial and then it would be back. That wasn’t the case. In the final thirty seconds, we are given a shocking revelation, and then it is all done. Good-bye folks! What kind of ending is that? I know the series and the people behind it weren’t really told in time to make a proper ending because episodes were already shot, but still something could have been done.

This is the second series I’ve seen end their run badly. The first one was The L Word. I’ve mentioned that series also coming to an end in recent weeks, and it did. However, for the whole season we followed a plot line of ‘Who Killed Jenny Schecter’ only to not be told who really did it in the end? Everyone walked off into the night happily. The last minute of that series finale had me laughing, and it still does every time I see it. What is up with series ending without really ending things on a proper note. The only thing we are left with is more questions. Follow through for your fans, please!

News broke over the weekend that ABC Family had decided to cancel Kyle XY after this season. This was from the rumor mills, but the news was confirmed early Monday morning, and yes after these current episodes air on ABC Family, Kyle XY will be no more.

The series started its third season on January 12th. A short ten episode season that fans were hoping would be expanded like season two was last year. That is not the case though. All ten episodes appear to have been already shot as well, so there is no telling if fans will be left hanging when the last episode airs.

The reason being given right now is a drop in ratings. I have been giving this some thought since the news broke, and I am wondering if the time slot change this season might be partly to blame for this drop in ratings. The series had been moved an hour later this year, and the following for this series is highly in the teen market. Many might still be up at this time of night, but some might also be in bed.

Could this really explain the drop in ratings? I was sucked into Kyle XY from the very first episode, and I am hating to see another good series go off the air. The series has fans, and I really hope ABC family gives them the closure they need with this series. News of its cancellation is depressing.

If you are a fan of the ABC Family series, Kyle XY, there is good news about the premiere of its third season. The series is set to premiere on January 12th on the network, but if you cannot wait to see what happens until then you can pop online to see it via fancast. This series just released season two on DVD last week, and the DVD will get you ready for the new season with all the episodes from season two to deleted scenes, an alternate ending and even more an addition in the box set.

I’ve been a fan of Kyle XY since the series premiered, and I am excited to see what season three has in store. So far season three consists of ten episodes, but those might be increased once the series premieres. This is what happened last season with season two. A ten episode order that was increased to a twenty-episode season. I would love to see the same happen here. The series is original and not like anything else on television.

Season three is promising to be just as exciting as season two, but I think I might hold off on watching the premiere online. I want the full television experience, and you just can’t get that when you watch something online. If you want to catch it for yourself though, head over to Fancast to watch the premiere now. Season two is now available on DVD as well. Check stores for that now.

Two summers ago, ABC Family began hyping up a new series about a boy that could do amazing things. Everyone wanted to know about it, and with summer programming being sometimes lacking I found myself tuning in. That series was Kyle XY. I told myself before I watched that a series on a family network could never catch my attention and hold it for long. I still watched anyway, and within a few episodes I was pleasantly surprised. I found myself tuning in each and every Monday night to find out just where the guy without a belly button came from. Was he an alien as many speculated or was there something more there.

As the first season progressed, we were pulled into a story that was intriguing while heartwarming at the same time. Matt Dallas plays Kyle, a young man that we learn was created in a lab with the mind of ten geniuses combined. The series returned for a second season over this summer, and made its return to ABC Family just last night in an all new time slot. This is the second half of the second season, and at a time when new programming is at a low due to the writer’s strike, the series is welcome addition to the Monday night line-up. Monday night is actually a popular night it seems because this week Prison Break returned, and we also had the premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles over on Fox.

Kyle XY since its premiere has become one of my favorite shows. I’ve tuned in weekly, and I’ve fallen in love with the characters. It has interesting writing and a plot line that has kept my interest almost from the very beginning. I look forward to once again including Kyle XY into my weekly line up.
