A few months ago, it was announced that Law & Order: Criminal Intent was being pushed back from a November start date to a date sometime in early 2009. This came as a shock to everyone because advertisements for the series’ return had already began to air on the network when the change was announced. Now there has been another delay for the series. That early in 2009 start date has been pushed back to a summer 2009 start date.

There has been no real reason given for this second delay. There have been some changes to the cast that we haven’t even had the chance to see yet. Chris Noth left the series, and Jeff Goldblum came in to fill that void left by his exit. Is Mr. Big too busy with his Sex & The City? No exact date has now been given for the series’ return, but it will be this summer. That is unless it is delayed again.

Other news out of NBC today includes the announcement of another former E.R. star returning to the series. George Clooney finally gave in this week, and many were wondering if his on-screen wife would be a part of the deal. Juliana Marguiles had been holding back from returning, but with Clooney’s return, she has changed her tune too. She will be returning to the E.R. set in the days ahead to film scenes. Glad to see these two both returning together.

Just yesterday, I was talking about the return of Law & Order to NBC, and now it looks like another series in the Law & Order franchise has hit a bump in the road. Law & Order: Criminal Intent was set to premiere on November 7 on USA, but now the network says the series won’t return until 2009. They are saying early 2009, but they didn’t really give a start date for its official return.

This is a bit worrisome for the series. Some changes have been made in casting, and this new season was set to highlight Jeff Goldblum’s entry into the cast. One really does have to wonder here why the huge delay. Promos for the series have been airing announcing the premiere in November, but now those are set to be yanked off the air. No set start date is also curious.

I’m not one to watch this franchise of shows, but the addition of Jeff Goldblum to the cast had made me curious. He’s one of those actors that always seems to stand out to me. I’ve watched many of his movies over the years, and while he has filmed some that make me wonder what he was doing - Earth Girls Are Easy anyone? The Fly and Jurassic Park are two of my favorite films of all time. What do you think of this quick change? Why has the network set this huge delay so close to the series premiere date?? It is only a week away! It really does make you wonder.

There are changes on the horizon for the USA network series, Law & Order: Criminal Intent. One actor is on the way out, while another is on the way in. It is being reported that Chris Noth is exiting the series. He was last scene on the big screen as Carrie’s guy Big in the Sex & The City movie released in May. On Law & Order, Noth has played Detective Mike Logan, and he has been a staple of the Law & Order franchise for some time now.

Coming in to fill the void is actor Jeff Goldblum. A big name to fill a big empty void on the series once Detective Logan leaves. Goldblum is known for his roles in films such as The Fly and Jurassic Park. We can try to ignore his appearance in Earth Girls Are Easy, even if I did just see it on cable not too long ago. Goldblum is one of those hit or miss actors, but I have always enjoyed his work. The Fly has always been a favorite, and Jurassic Park was always the best in that series of movies.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent is entering its eighth season when it returns on the USA network. I’ve never watched much of Law & Order, but I notice good television when I do manage to take a peek. There is just way too much good television on to fit more into my schedule, even with DVR. I don’t see Law & Order going anywhere for some time to come.
