The L Word closed up its run just last month on Showtime, but fans of the series still had a small bit of hope of seeing their favorite characters again. Long before season six premiered, Ilene Chaiken spoke of a spin-off from The L Word. This spin-off would take Alice from the series to prison. Yes, to anyone that watched season six of The L Word, which had the sole focus of who killed Jenny Schecter. With a series taking Alice from West Hollywood to prison, we can all figure out that Alice was then accused of killing Jenny and sent to jail.

In the series finale of the The L Word, we see Alice find Jenny’s body, and then she is questioned alongside the rest of the ladies. We don’t really know who killed Jenny, and that question was probably going to be answered by this spin-off. However, it was announced by Showtime over the weekend that the spin-off would not happen. The pilot for the series was made, but Showtime didn’t want to take the option to pick it up.

In a way, I’m very glad the option for the spin-off wasn’t picked up. The last season of The L Word was very odd to me. Jenny had been through so much over the six seasons, and she survived all of it. To have her killed off just to end the series seemed like overkill to me, and I know I’m not the only one that felt that way. Many fans were upset by the last season, and even the handling of the series finale. What do you think? Were you looking forward to the L Word spin-off or are you glad its done?

Back in 2004, a series hit Showtime that would follow the lives of a group of lesbians that lived in Los Angeles. Six seasons later, that series is now coming to its end this Sunday night here in the United States. The series seemed to take on a life of its own, connecting people regardless of sexual orientation. The lives of this group of women with the occasional male influence thrown in somehow didn’t just speak to issues within the gay and lesbian community, but issues that faced many more individuals than those in the GLBT community.

Mental illness, infidelity, love, passion, violence, drugs, breast cancer and yes even death. We have seen many of the characters go through real things that effect every man and woman alive today. With its honest portrayal of such events, the series won viewers, but the series has also had its share of problems over the years. Some seasons were better than others, and many have even questioned how the series is going out with its end. The last season has focused on Jenny Schecter and the moments leading up to her death. A three month period where we know she will be dead in the end.

Jenny, as we know, has been the main focus of the series. It is her story this series has told as she lived with accepting her sexuality, and then moving on to find a love of her own. Season six has made that love her best friend Shane. The two ended season five with a fight, but by the second episode of the season, Jenny admitted her feelings for her best friend, the one woman that has not allowed herself to be caught by any one person for long. Jenny has had a lot to deal with over the last six seasons, and to see all the strength she had disappear as she finally dies is truly heartbreaking.

I have been a fan since the beginning. My love for the show has had me branch out and make friends with others that also shared a love for the series, and because of that shared love I have made friends I know I will have for life. Thank you to The L Word for being something I know I will miss once the final credits roll later on tonight.

The L Word is well into its final season at the moment. The series premiered its sixth season on January 18th, and we have only a few episodes left before the series comes to its shocking close. We know that Jenny will die, and someone out of her friends killed her. Each week, we see someone else come up with a reason why Jenny Schecter must die.

Meanwhile, we watch something I suspected might happen since all the way back in season two, Jenny and Shane finally hook up. Something that either horrifies or amuses their friends, depending on who you ask. Signs of this relationship came early on to me, but it has taken til this final season, just before Jenny is set to die, for it to happen.

We know that a spin-off for Alice is in the works, and she will be heading to jail for it. I guess that right there alone tells us who killed Jenny Schecter. I’ve spoken about this plot line when news about it first broke, and it had me scratching my head then. I understand the desire for a spin off, but something else could have been done.

If there is one character that has been through it all on The L Word, it is Jenny. It would have been nice to see her find her happily ever after once the series finally came to a close, whether that be with Shane, someone else, or on her own. Other shake ups have happened on and off screen as well.

Just this week, Clementine Ford, daughter to Cybill Shephard, came out to Diva magazine. Something tells me we haven’t seen the last of the ladies of The L Word. What do you think?

One of my favorite series is The L Word. I have been watching the series since its first season premiered, and I have stuck with the series through all the bumps in the road it has had along the way. There has been a lot of them too. I have never understood some of the decisions the series has made about plot and character direction. One year, Jenny is sane. The next she is off her rocker. This has gone back and forth throughout the series, and it has been frustrating to say the least.

Now we are headed into season six. We know it is the final season, and there is a new poster out for it that has been raising some eyebrows, including mine. The poster looks like an orgy in the making, and it is making me wonder what the creator of the series has in store for the last eight episodes. Are they hinting at a relationship between Jenny and Shane? At the end of season five, Jenny caught her best friend Shane having sex with her girlfriend, well ex-girlfriend. Still Jenny still had hopes for the two of them.

However, in this poster Jenny and Shane are quite close. In the last two days, more promos and the opening scene of the first episode have come out. We now know someone has died. One screen shot has leaked out, and it shows the identity of the person that dies. It is an original cast member, and her death will set up the spin-off series.

As a fan of the series, I want to see it get a proper send off. It has been a staple of my television viewing, and I have stuck by it even when I questioned the series and what it was doing. However, with what I have seen today, I’m not sure I understand the direction this series is taking for its final season. We will see what happens when the series returns in January.

Showtime has finally announced when The L Word will hit their network for its sixth and final season. The season will be shorter than the previous seasons of the series. Only eight episodes this time around. The first episode of season six will premiere on January 18 at 9.

With its final season, it looks like The L Word is pulling out all of the stops. Elizabeth Berkeley was added to the cast early after the fifth season ended. Lucy Lawless has also said she makes an appearance this season, but she isn’t saying just how she will come to play with the ladies of The L Word.

News of a spin-off already in the works has made it known that we will see more of at least one of our favorite L Word lesbians. Leisha Hailey has been tapped for that one. The L Word has always been one of my favorite series. It came in around the time Queer as Folk was preparing to bow out, and it stood well on its own.

The series tells the story of a group of women living in Los Angeles. They might be lesbian, but they focuses that affect everyone, gay or straight. Topics like breast cancer, drugs and depression have all played a big part of the series. Infidelity has also been a focus of this series, and that is something that affects everyone, gay or straight.

I think the series is making its exit at the right time. The story has played out a bit, and it is time for it to end. I’m sure if the series with Alice takes off there may be a chance of our ladies returning to appear.

We all remember Elizabeth Berkeley from her role as straight laced Jessie Spano on Saved by the Bell, and her memorable performance in Showgirls. Now she is heading for a multiple episode appearance on Showtime’s The L Word. That series is heading into its final season in early 2009, and we’ll have eight episodes before thing go dark. Berkeley will come in as the straight girl that got away from Bette during her college days.

Word also has it from The L Word creator this week that we might have a spin-off from The L Word once that series done. The series finale is being set up as a jumping off point for the new series. It hasn’t been picked up yet, but there is a good chance it might. The new series would take one of The L Word women and put her in her own series. No word on which woman that is yet, but I’m sure we’ll know eventually.

The L Word is one of my favorite series, and it has been since its premiere. Logo is now carrying the series on its network from the beginning, and I actually went back to watch a couple of episodes from the first season. Some of the best television happened in season one of The L Word. Since then the series has left me scratching my head a time or two, especially with this season’s finale. Not sure what is coming up next for the series, but I’m sure it will go out with a bang. Queer as Folk did, literally.

Showtime has announced a third season for the series that follows the life and loves of King Henry VIII. In this telling of the story, Jonathan Rhys Meyers is the King, and we’re currently following his life with Anne Boleyn, who will lose her head sometime this season. This time period is popular at the moment because a major motion picture focusing on the Boleyn sisters also made its way to viewers this year in The Other Boleyn Girl. The film starred Eric Bana, Scarlett Johannson and Natalie Portman. The series has done quite well for Showtime, and the network plans to follow the life of King Henry VIII and all of his six wives. Filming for the third season will begin in June in Dublin, Ireland.

I wasn’t grabbed up into The Tudors craze during its first season, but I came into it later when the series was released on DVD. It is a telling of the time period that is more sensational than what many be used to, and you do have to wonder just how accurate of a telling it is as well. I do find myself enjoying it though, and I have it set on my DVR for weekly viewing. It’ll be curious to see what they do with Jonathan Rhys Meyers. So far he hasn’t appeared as we know King Henry VIII looked like in real life. Will he have to eventually put on a fat suit? Or will he continue on as he is now?

Showtime has also renewed The L Wordfor a sixth and final season once the fifth season wrapped up. The last season of the series will contain eight episodes, and it will hopefully tie up all the loose ends left from this season’s shocking finale. Marlee Matlin is mentioned a possible return to the series briefly. She was just seen eliminated from this season’s Dancing With The Stars last night when her last dance was just too much for her.

Have you ever dreamed of someday writing for one of your favorite television series? If you love to write that might be something you have an aspiration to do, and The L Word gave their fans just that opportunity. Last season, they ran a contest where fans could write a scene for the series with the hopes of having a scene they have written end up in the series on Showtime itself. Many entered, and a few hopefuls were chosen. The search for a winner was actually discussed in the season four DVD that came out back in October.

Now this Sunday, we have the result of that search as the opening sequence for this week’s episode was written by Molly, the winner of “You Write It” FanLib contest. The scene is said to be a take on the Charlie’s Angels theme with them trying to figure out if the series own Jennifer Schecter is gay or not. This is a play on a scene from season one where everyone is trying to figure out if the soup chef Lara would be open to Dana’s advances. Damn, we miss Dana, don’t we? A brief look at the scene online looks like it is really fun, and the girls get into it.

As for the series, The L Word is currently in its fifth season. It returned to Showtime on January 6th in an all new time slot, an hour earlier than in previous years. This year, the series is tackling some issues with our favorite lesbians, including gays in the military. Shane is once again out of control as she breaks the heart of Paige and then runs wild. Jenny’s story is still being turned into a movie, and we’re getting a look at the Hollywood process. All in all, I’m enjoying this season so far. Season four left me a bit wanting more, but season five is picking up the pace. We’ll have to see what happens next!

The hit Showtime series will premiere its fifth season on the network on January 6th, but fans of the series won’t have to wait that long to see the premiere episode. The fifth season premiere will debut online first on the site created by the woman behind the lives of our favorite lesbians, Ilene Chaiken. OurChart.com, a community for gays and lesbians, will have the episode and some behind the scenes footage up a full week before it hits the small screen on December 30th. This is the first time for a series to make its debut on such a site, but with how prominent the OurChart site has become to the show, it does make sense for it to premiere their first.

This isn’t the first time Showtime has gone away from the norm to get their shows to their fans. They premiered Californication a full three weeks before its premiere on Showtime to Netflix users. Chaiken is saying that this season of The L Word will be its biggest ever. Season four left me a bit puzzled, but it was quite enjoyable with new additions to the cast keeping my interest. Season four is now available on DVD, and you can read my review of the DVD set here. The L Word will premiere on Showtime on January 6th.
