This rumor was, in fact, true. NBC officially announced that a spin-off of the Office will begin airing next season. The premiere will reportedly be held until February 1st of ‘09. It will air after the Super Bowl. The show will then move to Thursday nights and be preceded by the original Office.

The CSI franchise worked for CBS. Why not try the same with a show that isn’t Law and Order? NBC’s anemic ratings call for something drastic. Not that a second Office is drastic. It’s bound to be a hit, at least at the beginning.

So who is going to rule over the new Office? Rumors abound after the click (more…)

TVguide.com is reporting that NBC has plans for a spin-off of hit show, The Office. Apparently it would happen much the same way as Private Practice spun-off Grey’s Anatomy. However, there will apparently be no cross-over in the casts — unlike Practice, which stole Grey’s regular Kate Walsh to anchor the new series, the proposed Office 2 is not expected to include any of the mother ship’s core cast.

There seems to be a lot of opposition to the idea, which I find comical as the US version of the office is essentially a spin-off of the original UK version which was wildly successful. I personally don’t watch the office, so I’d love to hear everyone else thoughts on the plan.
