Showtime is ready for one more season of The Tudors it looks like. Season three is airing on the network now, and it is still one of the more popular shows on the network. I was caught up in the action with season one of the series, but I quickly lost interest when season two hit. It was too glitz and glamour for me to take seriously. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a good Henry, but he doesn’t look the part. Henry was ugly as his life went on. Meyers couldn’t be ugly on his worst day.

This fourth season will finish the life of King Henry the VIII. I remember when season two was in play, and Showtime mentioned wanting to completely tell the life of the monarch. They originally said this would take six seasons. Looks like they figured out a way to have it done in four.

The fourth season will consist of ten episodes penned by the creator of the series, Michael Hirst. Filming for this final season of The Tudors will start in June in Dublin. You do have to wonder why they are wrapping up things so quickly. Meyers has had his problems again this year. An almost month long trip into rehab was needed. This was the third time the actor had made his way into rehab.

Those behind the scenes at The Tudors did mention some problems during production of season three. Hopefully, everything is squared away and on a good path before production on season four begins in June. What do you think? Do you want more from The Tudors?

News broke earlier Friday that Jonathan Rhys Meyers had checked himself back into rehab in England. This is the third time the actor has checked himself in to deal with problems with alcoholism. Meyers is currently gearing up for a return to the small screen in Showtime’s Tudors, which tells the life and loves of King Henry the 8th.

The third season is set to hit Showtime in the weeks ahead. However, Meyers has been fighting his own demons. According to reports, the actor had been warned on previous occassions by the people behind the series to cut down on his drinking. These warnings came while the actor was filming the third season.

The Tudors is one of the solid series in Showtime’s stable. It will return to the network once The L Word ends its six year run. That series is set to air its season finale on Sunday, March 8th. As a fan of The L Word, it is sad to see this series come to its end, especially with how it is ending right now. The death of one of the main characters has been the main focus this time around, as we say good-bye once and for all to Jenny Schecter.

As for The Tudors, season one pulled me in completely, but something changed drastically with season two. It lost me somewhere around three episodes in, but we know that Showtime has intentions of dragging this one out for six seasons. That means we will have a lot more of Meyers in the years to come!

Showtime has announced a third season for the series that follows the life and loves of King Henry VIII. In this telling of the story, Jonathan Rhys Meyers is the King, and we’re currently following his life with Anne Boleyn, who will lose her head sometime this season. This time period is popular at the moment because a major motion picture focusing on the Boleyn sisters also made its way to viewers this year in The Other Boleyn Girl. The film starred Eric Bana, Scarlett Johannson and Natalie Portman. The series has done quite well for Showtime, and the network plans to follow the life of King Henry VIII and all of his six wives. Filming for the third season will begin in June in Dublin, Ireland.

I wasn’t grabbed up into The Tudors craze during its first season, but I came into it later when the series was released on DVD. It is a telling of the time period that is more sensational than what many be used to, and you do have to wonder just how accurate of a telling it is as well. I do find myself enjoying it though, and I have it set on my DVR for weekly viewing. It’ll be curious to see what they do with Jonathan Rhys Meyers. So far he hasn’t appeared as we know King Henry VIII looked like in real life. Will he have to eventually put on a fat suit? Or will he continue on as he is now?

Showtime has also renewed The L Wordfor a sixth and final season once the fifth season wrapped up. The last season of the series will contain eight episodes, and it will hopefully tie up all the loose ends left from this season’s shocking finale. Marlee Matlin is mentioned a possible return to the series briefly. She was just seen eliminated from this season’s Dancing With The Stars last night when her last dance was just too much for her.
