The team were dropped in Africa and told to buy 3 second hand cars. They were then set a series of challenges as they made their way across Africa, including driving the cars across the Makgadikgadi Salt pans and the Okavango Delta. The reason? To prove that Surrey housewives don’t need BMW X5’s to do the shopping, or even off-roading!

Without a doubt, the most entertaining part of the show involved a cow’s head, Richard Hammond’s tent and a small group of Hippos. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a clip of this in Youtube, so I instead leave you with… The Stig’s African Cousin:

Hamilton, a long term fan of the show, had a brief run in with Clarkson at Wednesday’s National TV Awards, in which Clarkson criticised him for his impending move to the land of Chocolate and Cheese. Hamilton later returned the favour by awarding Clarkson and the rest of the Top Gear team a Special Recognition Award.

Hamitlon had this to say about the show: Growing up, Top Gear was always one of my favourite shows. I share the same passions as Jeremy — fast cars, their speed and grace. He always makes me laugh. To which Clarkson responded: We’re looking forward to having you down on the show in a couple of weeks even though your boss said you can’t drive anything that’s not a Mercedes. We’ll sort it out.
