Showtime’s Black comedy, Weeds, has been renewed for a fourth season, following the massive success of season 3. Weeds is currently Showtime’s most watched original comedy and season 3 hasn’t disappointed, with an increase in audience of 19%. The show’s also enjoyed massive success on the iTunes TV store.

The fourth season is expected to begin production in April ‘08 and will most likely come to air during the summer season.

Weeds is a big favourite of mine, in part because of it’s half-hour format, but also because of it’s quirky plot and great acting from the cast. Unfortunately I’ve not been able to keep up with the show though, Sky have the rights to it in the UK and for freeview viewers, the only chance to catch it is somewhere around mid-night on Saturdays (via Sky Three, which is destined to leave freeview). It’s a great show and I don’t know why Sky don’t use it to boost their ratings, especially seeing as the shows 18-24 audience demographic holds huge advertising value.
