    • Two new dramas will be hitting CBS this summer and they are set to heat up the summer months ahead. New programming seems to keep coming which is nice to see after the three month lull we had due to the writer’s strike. Swingtown and Flashpoint were announced as new arrivals to CBS’ late last week. Swingtown is prepared to hit the network on May 29th with Flashpoint coming in July.

The first, Swingtown, is a look at life in the seventies. The series comes to us from the same director of Rome and Big Love, which are two of HBO’s most popular series. This series is said to take a look at couples living their lives in this influential time in our history. The series follows a couple that move into the Chicago suburbs and deal with life as it is in the time period. The series stars several familiar faces including Jack Davenport, Molly Parker, Grant Show and Miriam Shor.

Flashpoint is a series coming to us from Canada. It follows a group of cops that are members of the SRU, a unit based on Toronto’s Emergency Task Force. We will watch them live their lives and work as they try to save lives before its too late. The description of this series reminds me a bit of CBS’ The Unit without the military aspect involved. The focus here is more localized instead of world wide. The Unitis one of my favorite series, so I know I plan to take a look at this series when it hits in July. The series will star Enrico Colantoni, Hugh Dillon and David Paetkau.
