    • It is that time of year already! The time of year where television series start to learn their fate for the next season. Some won’t known if they have a continued life until May, but some networks jump ahead and start making announcements now. Earlier this week, The CW announced it was giving a new series, Melrose Place, the go ahead.  Now The CW has gone ahead and let five of its series that they will be seen next year.

Those series include a few surprises. Two veteran series, One Tree Hill and Smallville, have been picked up. Smallville surprises me because every season they say it is the last one. It looks like they are going for just one more. Does anyone even still watch Smallville?

Other pick-ups include freshman series 90210, Gossip Girl, Supernatural and America’s Next Top Model. I’m glad to see both 90210 and Supernatural returning for more. 90210 is like crack to me. I know I shouldn’t like it. I’m way too old for teen dramas, but this one has admittedly sucked me in.

As a fan of the former series, I think this new 90210 has definitely done something, but it needs to do only more. We’ll see what the series does in its second season. What do you think of these pick-ups by The CW for the next season? Are you surprised? Will you be watching? I think The CW is trying to save itself still. The network hasn’t been doing the best. We’ll see how they do in the time to come.
