    • TV Guide made the shocking announcement yesterday that Gary Dourdan will not be renewing his contract when it goes up next month. The actor, who has been with the series since 2000 as Warrick Brown, will be leaving CSI instead. There is no word yet on just how the character will leave the show or when, but some are saying this year’s season finale might also be his exit. Casting is already on the look for a new male to bring into the series as a regular to fill the spot left by Dourdan’s departure. This is the second regular character to leave this season. However, the rest of the main cast looks like it will remain intact. William Petersen has already renewed his contract, and the other main cast members look to be soon to follow.

In other CBS news, the network has announced its summer schedule. Fans of Big Brother will be happy to know that another installment of the series is set for this summer, while other reality series also jump onto the network. This includes Jingles, Million  Dollar Password and the Great American Dog. Two drama series I have mentioned previously on this site, Swingtown and Flashpoint, will also debut in the summer months. Swingtown will have its premiere on June 5th, and Flashpoint will hit the network on July 11th.

The summer is full of reality series and specials, and we even have fighting coming to CBS in the form of a mixed martial arts contest called CBS EliteXC, which will heat up Saturday nights at least twice this summer with airings on May31st and July 26th. No word yet on what is ahead for CBS in the fall. The fate of some of my favorite series is still up in the air, but many  have already been slated to return to the network. We’ll have to wait and see what CBS does with its schedule in May.
