- “Thank you, Entertainment Tonight, for letting Heath Ledger rest in peace. And, what's more, thank you for not treating your viewers like they are idiots by showing something that is not news and telling them that it is.”
  
  It was a good day for yellow journalism. Entertainment Tonight decided not to air a video show drugs being taken at a party attended by the late Heath Ledger. The decision was the right one for so many reasons.
  
  First, Ledger is being remembered as a classy guy. He definitely appeared to be low-key when the paparazzi video cameras were rolling. Unlike most stars, he didn’t seem to lord his status and fame over other people. He wasn’t self righteous like (insert any number of stars’ names here). Yep. Everyone would agree that Ledger was a pretty good guy. There is no need to speculate about his character.
  
  Here’s what got me, though. Entertainment Tonight showing a picture of drugs being taken at a Hollywood party. STOP THE PRESSES. Someone in Hollywood was actually taking drugs for recreational purposes. I can’t believe it. Does ET think that we are still living in the 1957?
  
  Had you or I ever been cool enough to attend a Hollywood party what are the chances we would end up standing near someone who was doing drugs? 99.99%? Too high? Fine. how about 99.98%? Yeah, that’s better. And would the fact that someone was ingesting illegal substances in our vicinity mean that we were also planning to ingest said substances? Probably not.
  
  So, this is a good day for yellow journalism. People can go back to keeping up on actual hard news, like Britney Spears’ latest stint in rehab or Angelina Jolie’s latest adoption.
  
  Thank you, Entertainment Tonight, for letting Heath Ledger rest in peace. And, what’s more, thank you for not treating your viewers like they are idiots by showing something that is not news and telling them that it is.
