Hope For Moonlight Fans
-
News came down yesterday that CBS had no plans to renew Moonlight for a second season. The ratings for the series just aren’t where they would like them to be. The network says the series isn’t holding the viewers from their Ghost Whisperer lead-in. This is despite the fact that the series does have a strong fan base. They organized blood drives, and they even sent in garlic cloves to the network, but that was not enough. There is hope for the series today though. In a classic case of it isn’t over until the fat lady sings, another network might be interested in picking up the series. This morning their are rumblings that the CW might be interested in the series. They have already set their schedule for next year though. The answer here is not entirely. They have outsourced their Sunday night schedule to another company, and that company might be interested in picking up Moonlight for next year to air in one of those Sunday night slots.
In my opinion, CW would be an ideal network for Moonlight to air on. With series like Reaper and Supernatural already airing on the network, Moonlight would fit right in. Sunday night is mostly a light night with heavy hitters like Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters being of the few shows being offered. I hope this happens because I was quite the fan of the series myself. I have tuned in every Friday night the entire season, and I would hate to see this series end so quickly. No idea on when this would be announced if it did happen, but I’m sure the fan response since news of the cancellation broke yesterday will make for a speedy decision. We will just have to wait and see if the series is saved. Fans should not give up hope yet.
