    • “NBC and News Corp.'s new Internet video site Hulu is finally seeing the light of day.”

Webware is reporting that Hulu, a joint venture between NBC and News Corp, has opened up a private beta. Hulu was first announced earlier this year, in March, as a pioneering digital platform for viewing and sharing TV clips and full length episodes.

I unfortunately haven’t received access to the site yet, but Webware has some great screenshots which outline alot of intriguing features. From what I can tell, the videos are much higher resolution than most rival sites, perhaps even HD. They also appear to be in a 16:9 format for widescreen viewing :) The flash player seems to include a “chapter” feature which I always find very useful for watching shows in bursts and there’s the obvious “share/embed” options.

Hulu has previously been cited as the main reason for NBC withdrawing it’s content from iTunes and other digital platforms. The content line up looks very compelling, including full episodes of Heroes, Prison Break, Battlestar Galactica and the Simpsons. It will be interesting to see how Hulu is monetised, I suspect there’ll be some form of advertising but we’ll have to see.
