- Tonight starts a new era in late night television. Conan takes over The Tonight Show on NBC, and in the fall we will see Jay Leno make his return to NBC in an all new time slot, prime-time. If you happened to catch the show this past Friday night, you were one of the many that did and made this the best Friday night showing ratings wise for The Tonight Show in years.
  
  Seventeen years Leno had ruled over late night as he took over The Tonight Show from Johnny Carson. We all know of the battle that took place between him and David Letterman back then, but over the years it looks like those two ended up working out their problems and become friends of sorts.
  
  Letterman had even stood up and spoke out about NBC firing Leno like they had, but this was before NBC unveiled their new plan to bring Leno back to the network in a new earlier time slot. Jay will take the summer off before he returns to take care NBC’s ten o’clock hour, which has always been reserved for dramas.
  
  That is gone, and it is time for a new era to begin as Conan takes over The Tonight Show on Monday night. Conan is ready for it. Will you be tuning in to watch Conan on the new tonight show? What about Jay? Are you excited for his jump into prime-time. What do you think?
