In fact, her seventh place exit had several American Idol fans questioning the voting process. However, despite being voted off American Idol, Jennifer Hudson did go on to become successful.

      One year after Jennifer’s appearance on American Idol Season 3, she landed a lead role as Effie White in Dreamgirls. Her performance in Dreamgirls landed her several awards:

      In addition to her role in Dreamgirls, Jennifer secured several other roles in upcoming films. Those upcoming films include Winged Creatures, Sex and the City: The Movie, The Secret Life of Bees and The Family That Preys Together.

      As for Jennifer Hudson’s singing career, her single from Dreamgirls (And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going) climbed to #14 on Billboard’s charts for R&B. In addition, it landed #60 in Billboard’s Hot 100 and #1 in the Hot Dance Club Play chart; all of this took place in 2006. And today she is working on her debut album, which she expects to released this year.

      Jennifer Hudson may not have won American Idol Season 3, but she’s the perfect example of a Top 10 finalist who found success! If truth be told, Jennifer should be an inspiration to all American Idols — past and future contestants.
