Kiefer Sutherland will be spending the holidays in the last place you’d expect: prison.  The star of Fox’s mega-hit, 24, is beginning a 48-day stint at a minimum-security prison following a repeat DUI offense.  Kiefer had arranged for his prison stay to begin during 24’s Holiday hiatus, on December 21st, but, because of the writer’s strike, he asked to begin serving his time earlier.

According to TMZ, Sutherland will be spending his time working in the prison’s kitchen and also doing laundry.  That doesn’t exactly fit the “Jack Bauer” image, but, I guess, neither does getting caught driving drunk on multiple occasions.

Sutherland is known to be a bit of a partier; so, perhaps the drunk driving charges should come as no surprise.  But, you’d think that, for one of TV’s biggest stars, a limo would only be a phone call away.

At least Kiefer isn’t the first celeb to be guilty of bad judgment.

It appears that, regardless of what happens with the writer’s strike, 24 die-hards will have to wait at least 48 days before any news of the show’s return.
