Last Comic Standing Season 5: Jon Reep
-
Remember Jon Reep, the very funny comedian from a small town in Hickory, North Carolina? Not only did Jon Reep gain laughter from his fans on NBC’s Last Comic Standing Season 5, but he won their votes, and that made him the Last Comic Standing! You may also know Jon from the Dodge commercials. He’s the one with the line, “That thing got a Hemi?”I must say, Jon was up against some tough competition at the end. Both he and Lavell Crawford made the final two, and I honestly didn’t know which one of them was going to win. Jon and Lavell won my heart and laughter. They were hilarious! In fact, it wouldn’t have surprised me if they announced a tie vote and both Jon and Lavell won. Nevertheless, since Jon Reep earned more votes than Lavell, this post will focus on Jon’s success since Last Comic Standing Season 5. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t do another post about Lavell soon.
As I just said, they were both hilarious, so doing an update piece on both of them is exciting to say the least.Back to Jon Reep… Since winning Last Comic Standing Season 5, Jon has left the small town life and moved to the city life in Los Angeles, booked many comedy gigs, appeared on MadTV and other television programs, and he even landed himself the role of a redneck named Raymus in Harold and Kumar 2. Harold and Kumar 2 is a comedy/adventure starring Neil Patrick Harris — currently scheduled for release in April 2008. Visit the Harold and Kumar official website for a sneak peek of the upcoming movie.
If you’d like to find out more about Jon or buy his CD (Bless His Heart), visit Jon Reep’s official website. In addition to his official website, he started Small Town Nation; an online community of “small towners,” which he says is “like MySpace for rednecks.” “People join up and trade pictures, video and stories about goin to the river, or cruisin, or trailer park parties they have, or any of the crazy stuff you do to entertain yourself in a small town,” Jon described in his blog.
Are you a Jon Reep fan? Have you been to see any of his shows? If so, comment and tell us all about it.
