    • There is still buzz over last week’s announcement by NBC to bring Leno from the late night world to the prime-time one. I don’t think anyone saw that one coming at all. I think no one really saw Leno giving up his prized late night seat either, and when that decision was first announced it caused waves too. Leno fought so hard for his spot on The Tonight Show. The battle between him and Letterman was the stuff made of legend. There was a movie made about it even.

After the decision was announced, Letterman shocked everyone by standing up for Leno and his apparent dismissal from The Tonight Show. Now Letterman has once again surprised people by asking Leno to appear on his series once he leaves late night television. Leno has turned down the offer though. He doesn’t think his appearing on Letterman the first night Conan takes over the late night spot would be fair to the man.

I happen to agree with Leno there. The two late night giants together on the same set talking would be something everyone would tune in to watch, and it might overshadow Conan’s first night on air. Leno might appear on another night eventually, and I will definitely be tuning in if that happens. These two are friends and enemies at the same time. It will be curious to see what happens. No matter what happens it will be hard to see Leno leave late night television. I’m glad to know we’re not losing him entirely though.
