    • While ABC is only announcing its summer schedule, this week NBC has gone ahead and announced its full year schedule starting with Fall 2008. They have a full year’s worth of new programming ahead for them that includes both returning favorites and plenty of new series to premiere on the network throughout the year. Among the returning series is ER which is heading into its fifteenth and final season as I’ve mentioned here previously. Also returning are The Office, Medium, Law & Order, Chuck, Heroes, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and a few others. Missing from the line-up are Bionic Woman and Scrubs. Bionic Woman is no surprise, but there has been a bit of a yo-yo when it comes to Scrubs. Some are saying the series will end up on ABC as earlier rumored. Others are saying the series is done. We will have to wait and see what ABC does with its schedule next month.

As for new series hitting the network, NBC has nearly twenty series coming onto the network during the 2008-2009 television series. After the success of the television movie, Knight Rider is coming to the network in the form of a weekly television series set to air on Wednesday nights. Other new series include Kath & Kim, taken from Australian television, Crusoe, The Philanthropist and a spin-off of The Office. With more series on the way, NBC is set to be offering the most original line-up of programming that it has in years. Not only that, but in the months and year ahead, the network will also be airing the Olympic Summer Games from Beijing, football games and the Super Bowl in February 2009.

I remember NBC programming its heyday. We had must see television every night of the week. ER was the centerpiece of Thursday night, and the network had a long list of other programs that had fans tuning in. This isn’t the case anymore. NBC is no longer the must see network, but they are trying to make a comeback. The question here is will they?
