    • With news today that the talks in the writers strike have once again stalled, it is starting to look like this strike could last a very long time. We might not have much in the way of scripted programming until next fall, and that is if things clear up before them. Original and reality programming will become a staple of our television programming in the months ahead, and the networks are planning accordingly.

      NBC has announced their new schedule effective after January 1st. We are seeing a great deal of reality shows pop up. One being the Hulk Hogan hosted American Gladiators. We will also see a new season of The Biggest Loser and  a season of The Celebrity Apprentice. As far as scripted programming goes, Medium will return on January 7th. Both Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent will premiere the first week of January as well. ER has new episodes until February when Lipstick Jungle will premiere in ER’s time slot.

      Honestly, it is slim pickings for those of us who love scripted programming, but with the strike talks deteriorating as they have it is starting to look like we might have to wait until Fall 2008 for things to return to normal in TV land. Next to be hit is the 2009 movie schedule, but that is a topic to be discussed at another time and place.
