    • A few months after it was announced that actor Patrick Swayze was diagnosed with cancer. The actor is now set to star in a new series just picked up by A&E. Swayze best known for his roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost has been ill and undergoing treatments since his diagnosis, and some feared he might not have long to live. Doctors have given him the go ahead to work on the series though.

The Beastfollows an FBI agent as he trains a new FBI agent while on the run from a secret affairs team. The pilot for the series was shot back in January, and after it was made known that Swayze was ill there was some talk of replacing him in the series. Doctors are confident that he will be able to maintain the schedule needed for the series. Shooting will take place starting this summer on the the thirteen hour long episodes ordered by the network.

I have always been a fan of the actor, and when I heard the news he might be on death’s door I was saddened. I hope he continues to make a full recovery from his cancer, and he is with us for a long time to come. The Beastis set to premiere on A&E in early 2009. Swayze made no mention of his illness when he talked about this new role, but his excitement for it was clear. The actor is fifty-five years old, which to me is just amazing. I swear it was only yesterday I was watching him in Dirty Dancing.
