    • Moonlight might not have been canceled in the far distant past, but it has a strong fan base that became outraged when CBS pulled the plug on the series this past May. The series followed vampire and private detective Mick St. John and his daily life living in Los Angeles as he worked on cases and did his best to protect a young woman he had been protecting since she was a young child, Beth.

The series brought something new to television when it came to vampires. They had a different mythology on Moonlight. Stakes didn’t kill and the sun didn’t burn Mick alive. Too much sun exposure just weakened the vampire, and we saw this happen once or twice. We also had a bit of romance between Mick and his lady love Beth.

The show just didn’t have enough ratings to keep it on the air though. It lost most of the viewers from its popular lead-in, Ghost Whisperer. This lead CBS to send down the ax, and there was nothing fans could do in order to save the series. Fans had been able to save one series from the CBS ax last year, but nothing could save Jericho from the ax the second time around. CBS has made an announcement to keep Alex O’Loughlin around though.

They know the Australian actor was a big reason behind Moonlight’s success, and they want to make another series for his talent. They are bringing in the people behind hits such as Grey’s Anatomy and Army Wives, and they have him under the wing for a year. I was actually a fan of Moonlight, and I was sad to see the series pulled off of CBS. In a world where we have too many remakes and revivals, Moonlight was something different, and these days we need different!
