    • With the strike now over, we can now look forward to the return of some of our favorite series. Not all of them will be coming back though. Not this year, and some aren’t coming back at all. The networks started making announcements on just what will be happening in the days and weeks ahead now that the writers are coming back to work. The strike has already done its damage though with ratings dropping for almost all the major networks. The only ones seeing little or no change are Fox and CBS. They have the Super Bowl and the Grammy’s to thank for that.

ABC started with announcing just what series will be back for a new season in the fall. Nine series received that call earlier this week including fan favorites Lost, Ugly Betty, and Grey’s Anatomy. New series seeing a second season include Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who, Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money. Grey’s Anatomy will reclaim its time slot from Lost eventually, but ABC announced just today that it plans to make Thursday a must see night for its network.

In April, Lost plans to return with another batch of episodes in the time slot following Grey’s Anatomy. With Ugly Betty starting off the night, ABC is sure to win that night easily. As for other network news, over on NBC Heroes won’t return to the fall, and it looks like the strike killed any hopes for Bionic Woman. It also looks like fans of 24 will have to wait until next year for a new season of that series. The good news is that the strike is over. Shows will slowly start to return with new episodes, and the writers are back to work. We will have to wait and see just what damage this strike has done. Can television bounce back?
