    • If you’re a fan of the dramas on TNT, then do I have a good news for you. They are back. Both The Closer and Saving Grace return this week with all new episodes. TNT is making changes, and they have been for awhile. They want to air more original programming. This is the network I know for basketball games and repeats mostly, but The Closer did open new doors into original programming for them.

The series stars Kyra Sedgewick, and it is entering its forth season tonight, while Holly Hunter plays Grace on the network’s Saving Grace. That series is returning for its second season. Both shows feature strong female leads, and this is becoming more and more common. Before women were sweet little homemakers that worked as waitresses if they needed to help make a little extra money.

Sorry, Roseanne! For as mouthy as you were, compared to the women in today’s television shows, she was a bit wimpy, and that is saying something. Today, we have cops and women taking down the bad guys anyway they can. Not only in The Closer and Saving Grace, but we also see strong no nonsense female leads in series across the networks. On FX, we have Damages. On NBC, we have Heroes. On USA, there is In Plain Sight, which I’ve heard is getting better, but I never tuned in past the pilot. It is good to see strong women taking back television.

To catch Saving Grace and The Closer season premieres tune in to TNT tonight. If you need to catch up, Saving Grace Season 1 is being released on DVD this Tuesday.
